Separation of duties is a mantra of those concerned with financial control. Yet it is hard to do with the accounting functions in a small to midsize enterprise. SYSPRO 7 Update 1 now makes this a bit easier.
Potentially one of the handiest SYSPRO 7 Update 1 features is the enhanced Stock Code Substitution. You can now configure SYSPRO to automatically suggest suitable replacements when taking a customer order and stock is not available.
SYSPRO is full of “listviews”: the data tables you see on-screen in queries, when entering data, just about everywhere. They display lots of useful information, but have you ever wanted more?
One of the top enhancements in SYSPRO 7: Update 1 is the ability to add custom information to your listviews. And it is very simple to do.

Server-Side Printing is an option that was introduced in SYSPRO 7. The first thing that you should know is that it is about a lot more than just printing.
There are a lot of places where you can get help with SYSPRO—there are destination like the Support Zone and Info Zone, support forums and a number of LinkedIn groups.
More and more customers are making the jump to SYSPRO 7 these days. We recently held a webinar on Upgrading to SYSPRO 7 with David van Rensburg one of our most prolific Support Consultants who has been involved in dozens of upgrades. Between the upgrades and the webinar we have fielded a number of questions and wanted to share some of the most common.
When you enter data in a SYSPRO grid (called a listview), some cells are editable and others are disabled because they are pre-populated by the system.
You can easily customize a SYSPRO toolbar to add a new button that can launch a SYSPRO Program, a VBScript, or a Windows application. In SYSPRO 7 there is an Add New Button feature. In SYSPRO 6.1 you copy an existing button, then customize it.
If you work in any sort of make-to-order, engineer-to-order, or similar job-based work environment, linking jobs to sales orders is a useful feature that lets sales and management see the status of jobs when they are talking with customers.
The SYSPRO interface often shows codes for different entities like warehouses, salespersons and invoice terms. These are great for experienced users who are familiar with the codes, but for new users (and even some experienced users) it would be helpful to display the descriptions of the codes on the screen.
