More and more customers are making the jump to SYSPRO 7 these days. We recently held a webinar on Upgrading to SYSPRO 7 with David van Rensburg one of our most prolific Support Consultants who has been involved in dozens of upgrades. Between the upgrades and the webinar we have fielded a number of questions and wanted to share some of the most common.

If you'd like to discuss upgrading to SYSPRO 7 or you have questions that aren't answered here, don't hesitate to reach out to your reseller or local SYSPRO office.

Yes, you can use the Set Key Information Program (Setup tab>General Setup>Set Key Information)to suppress leading zeros or change the presentation length. This changes the length in the front end, and has no effect on the database.

Development support will end in December 2015. This means that you will not be able to request changes/fixes.

Other support will still continue.

The Database Changes document provides these details.

Which document lists the field size changes?

The Field Size changes document provides these details.

Our SYSPRO 6.1 connection over Wi-Fi sometimes experiences delays or lost connections. Will SYSPRO 7 improve this?

An improved connection technology called SYSPRO Communication Services, which is better than the CCI technology, was already available since SYSPRO 6.1 SP1.  Ask your Reseller about setting it up.

Java is only required when using client side printing. Server side printing does not require Java.

Yes, but you should use the Native 10.0 SQL driver and not the Native 11.0 driver.

Yes, on both the versions you are upgrading FROM and TO, you must be on the latest ports. This ensures that the “from” version has the latest Readiness Check program, and that the “to” version has the latest Data Conversion Program.

It depends on your business. You will still need to do client installs. If client machines do not need SRS, then you can used the Web-based Client install.

SYSPRO Communication Service can be used instead of RDP provided that the internet connection between the server and client is stable and the bandwidth is sufficient.

No. SYSPRO creates multiple threads/processes when required and the OS will decide on which core to run this thread. SYSPRO has no control over this.
